Smoke & mirrors.
During the past two weeks, we’ve had Danish photographer Per Morten Abrahamsen as a guest lecturer. Our assignments required brainstorming, sketches, planning and everything had to be staged. It was different working in such a planned, organized way, but definitely something I will try more often from here on out.
Thanks to the twins from Helmet Compass for letting me photograph them half clothed in the cold rain and suffocating them with smoke bombs. Give them a listen here.

SPOT Festival 2013

Some shots from SPOT Festival in Aarhus this weekend.
SPOT Festival showcases Danish (or rather generally Nordic) rock/pop every year. I had the pleasure of seeing The Good The Bad, Complicated Universal Cum, Helmet Compass & Shiny Darkly… and of course meeting lots of outstanding people all during the course of two days. Oh, and the weather didn’t suck either.
Hope springs eternal.

What does music look like?
René Kowalczyk interprets Prelude No. 3 by Villa-Lobos for classical guitar.
For this assignment, we were paired with a musician from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and asked to show what their music looked like. René, a classical guitarist, may play someone else’s music, but he makes it personal by listening, understanding and re-inventing it.
For those interested, this photograph will be exhibited at Copenhagen Photo Festival 2013, June 6th-16th.
